I’m Brooke Hofsess, Midlife Midwife. I help women birth the work they’re meant to do in the world.

For years, I did what many of my clients have done.

I chased external rewards, proved my worth, jumped through every hoop. Tenured professor. Author. Scholar. Leader.

As it turned out, my calling didn’t fit into a job description...

So I claimed one for myself.

For the last decade, I’ve been walking women through this same portal — from proving themselves to trusting themselves — with a highly practical yet magical coaching toolbox.

My approach draws from 20+ years of experience & training, including:

  • PhD in arts-led burnout-recovery & mentoring

  • Jungian dreamwork (Marion Woodman lineage)

  • Core Gift Master Facilitator (Core Gift Institute)

  • Trained Playing Big Facilitator (Tara Mohr)

  • Trained Dare to Lead Facilitator (Brené Brown)

  • Advanced Applied Depths Coach (Joanna Lindenbaum)

  • The Hidden Art of Coaching (Lianne Raymond)

  • Certified Yoga Nidra teacher

Life keeps bringing us back to the same crossroads until we finally choose ourselves.

Ten years before I became a coach, I almost left academia.

I had stumbled into a “side hustle” I loved, holding women’s workshops and art retreats in yurts in the woods. It was wonderful. But I couldn’t see how it would sustain me.

So when the opportunity came to go to grad school and get paid to be a scholar and art professor, I went… even though every fibre of my being told me not to.

I picked the safe, strategic option, just like I had many times before. In that way I built a life that proved I was worthy, but not one that made me come alive.

All the while my soul fought to get a word in edgewise, struggling against the institution’s every restriction and bias to carve a little space for what my heart wanted to know, see, and do.

It wore me out, but I didn’t leave empty handed.

And I’m sure the same goes for you.

So while it may feel like you’re running on empty…

You are also full.

Full of all the wisdom, skill, and experience you need to finally do the thing you’re meant to do.

Full of yourself

Ready to ripen. Ready for life to be sweet.

Your soul holds the seeds.

MY LINEAGE

Each of my teachers has shaped my way of being, as a coach, leader, and facilitator. When you work with me, you’ll receive the nectar of these incredible guides:

Lianne Raymond, thank you for your open-hearted wisdom and fierce, loving presence as a mentor, and your teachings within, Cherish: A Field Guide to the Human Heart and through The Hidden Art of Coaching.

Tara Mohr, thank you for your groundbreaking writing and the way you blend the spiritual with the practical. I’m honored to be a credentialed Playing Big facilitator.

Dr. Brené Brown, thank you for your courage and storytelling, and for the daily impact of my Dare to Lead certification.

Joanna Lindenbaum, thank you for guiding coaches to the sacred depths of their craft. My training as an Advanced-level Applied Depths Practitioner moved me beyond the technique of coaching to find the seasoned mentor within.

Sil Read and Sandra Hilton, thank you for guiding my journey in working with dreams (and fairy tales) in Marion’s lineage. Encircled in your loving arms, my dreams lit a path for my waking life to come fully alive.

Rachel Maddox, thank you for helping me work safely and powerfully with trauma, and Nisha Moodley and Ginny Muir for gathering the RIPE women to awaken midlife’s wise, erotic power.

Bruce Anderson, thank you for showing me the profound power of Core Gift work through your master facilitator preparation.

Karen Brody and Taryn Diamond, thank you for training me in the soul poetry that is yoga nidra. You’ve taught me how to access the deepest, sweetest rest that leads to waking up our true nature.

And thank you to…

… my mother, Barbara, for embodying what it means to radically own our gifts in the second half of life. I only wish you had been given more time on earth to share your wisdom and healing with others.

… my life’s partner, Dustin, for holding space for my evolution and for inspiring me with his musicianship.

… And to my daughter, Thea, for what she invites me to heal, learn, and grow in myself and this world.

This is the lineage that informs our journey when we work together.

My work is rooted in mutual respect.
For your timing.
For your wisdom.
For the land beneath our feet.

I live, work, and rest on unceded Cherokee, Yuchi, and Moneton lands known as Boone, North Carolina.
